The Gut Friendly, High Protein Food you NEED to Consume more of!

Bone Broth has actually been around for centuries, it's only now that it has become "more of a thing" than ever before! Have you ever been given a beef or chicken soup from your grandparents or parents when you were sick ?? 9/10 you were given a nourishing soup similar to what we now call "Bone Broth" .
Bone Broth is incredibly rich in minerals, glycine, proline and glutamine. Glutamine is the most important amino acid for healing the gut wall. It is exceptionally easy for your body to digest, it provides a nourishing, nutrient-dense delivery system that soothes the gut lining, stimulates digestion and requires very little energy to absorb.
A delicious nourishing bone broth, especially one you’ve made yourself, is not only rich in minerals but also collagen, which is one of the best forms of protein you can consume for your body.
You can not only drink bone broth but you can use it in all of your cooking to help promote better digestion of food and not to mention giving it extra flavour.
Making your own bone broth is super simple and can be a cheap way to pack a lot of nutrients into your day. My recommendation is to make a big batch of bone broth, freeze some and refrigerate some, so you always have bone broth available to use.
It also means that you can use the bone broth in your cooking as a replacement for stock cubes, powders and cartons which often contain MSG and other food additives.
You can buy bone broth in powdered form also which is handy, if you are just so busy you don’t have time to make one of your own! But with my Chicken Bone Broth recipe below I can assure you it is easy and won’t take you longer than 10-15 minutes to prepare!
I like to have my bone broth first thing in the morning, I find it wakes me up, gives my body energy and is nourishing my gut from the get go!
The Recipe
INGREDIENTS:

1.5-2kg of chicken bones
2 table spoons of apple cider vinegar
1 whole leek chopped
3-4 medium sized carrots chopped
3 stalks of celery (don’t worry about taking the leaves off)
2 chopped onions
2-3 cloves of garlic
Water
2 bay leaves
Mixed herbs
Pepper corns
Salt

HOW TO:
1. In a crock pot or pot place all ingredients, cover all the bones/vegetables with water and leave to simmer for at least 20-30 hours , the longer you leave it to brew the better your broth will taste and the more nourishing it will be for your body.
Pour everything out of the pot/crockpot into a sieve once your broth has cooled down. Catch the broth in another pot or jug and put your broth into jars to store in the fridge or freezer.
Chicken bone broth can last up to 5 days in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer .
It’s a simple healthy nourishing recipe that doesn’t take long to prepare and is so cost effective! If you can’t afford to eat healthy food start making broths they are as little as $10 per week and are filled with nutrients your body will thrive from !

Enjoy !
